In sticking with the theme of repairing old chronographs, I picked up another Pierce Navigator a few months back from eBay in non-working order. This chronograph is a little bit different from the others that I have repaired in that it’s a single button chronograph. Service and repair of a gold plated Pierce Navigator
Today I wrapped up service of the second Pierce Navigator chronograph that I purchased back in February of this year. This watch was purchased at the same time as the nickel plated Pierce that I serviced earlier but it took much longer to complete as there were numerous issues on the inside and it needed a bit more restoration work on the outside. Vintage military watch service and repair
I wasn’t actually in the market for another timepiece when I stumbled upon this one. I have a habit (a bad one) of perusing websites where vintage watches may turn up at a price point that tickles my fancy. This can be a problem when I have little money in my pocket but sometimes I’ll find a watch that I really cannot pass up and in the case of this fine watch I feel I had no option other than to make the purchase. Restoration of a vintage cocktail watch
Taking a break from chronograph repairs I moved on to a watch that was just as challenging it its own way. Here I have a Longines women’s watch probably from the 1960’s in a 14k gold case with diamond accents. When I purchased this piece the watch had a damaged dial with a missing crystal and was more or less non-functional.

Restoring the original NASA Moonwatch
Four months back, convinced that I could repair a broken Omega Speedmaster for less than the cost of a new one, I took a flyer on a collection of parts that were being offered on eBay. The pieces, when assembled, would compile about ninety percent of the watch in question- a 1967 Omega Speedmaster Professional (model no. 145.012-67). A proper Landeron chronograph
Having repaired one of the oddball chronographs of the 1950’s, I now set my eye on a more conventional chronograph movement. My options, limited by my wallet, were confined to either a Venus, Valjoux, or Landeron calibre which were the most common of the period. Service of a 1950’s Pierce Navigator chronograph
After acquiring the bits and pieces needed (screwdrivers, staking kit, Rodico, pegwood, various oils, etc.) to properly service a vintage timepiece I set about finding an economical watch to service and settled on a chronograph manufactured by Pierce.
